Love is a Universal theme. It can be deeply fulfilling and very inspiring or throw you into the darkest void when there is heartbreak or breakup. Most people seem to be on an intense quest to find love and intimacy or the partner that is most suitable for them.  But are you chasing an endless illusion or the real thing? People ask me how do I fill the hole in my heart or life when there is no specific romantic partner in life at that moment?  There is no one set answer because each person’s history, experiences, life lessons etc are unique – yet I can share a perspective that may help.

On the path of self-discovery and spiritual evolution, the emptiness must be felt and accepted as love itself.  That hole is an opportunity to be room for more love that you are. The space to be your true nature. As you begin to deeply enjoy the experience of being alone you burst through the membranes of fear, anxiety, loneliness, bitterness, anger etc. It may not be one layer. Your journey may take you through several layers to accomplish what is needed; self-love or whatever is required for you to evolve and heal or realize your wholeness. This happens for individuals whether they are in relationship or single.

On the path of self-awareness this is a major bump in the road. It challenges the individual to be empowered and let imbalanced energies wash through them. To confront their hidden or unconscious patterns that are carried in their cell memory.  There are so many stages on the journey to reclaiming wholeness, we deepen and expand into the fullness the real Self/Soul. In this, there limitations evaporate. There is One Life here.  Spiritually, this is magnificent. Yet on the human level, it can be a strain to accept the process and to be patient with yourself as you inch your way out of the confinements – symbolic or literal.

Being with the hole, emptiness, gap or missing piece in life (not having a romantic partner in your life) is a huge gift. It will lead you to feeling and being strong, confident and stable with or without a person in your life. Love flows from you and the partner will only enhance what is already there. You give the gift of being whole inside/outside on your own – to yourself here. It is a remarkable and priceless gift to your overall evolution. Nothing can take this away once it has been reached. It is not an outward journey, but an inward one.

What I say share with others is this;
When the emotions or thoughts arise dive into the heart of the emotion. Feel it through completely. Don’t analyze it.  Face it head on and accept whatever is arising that life is bringing in the moment. Fighting it will keep the emotion or perception sticking to you longer than you want it to.  Let the energy flow through you. Be the open space, breathe into it. You will notice you flow into a new space easily. One that is more stable, clear and moving with Life. When we are willing to have a full relationship with Life, loneliness does become a distant memory because a whole new world rich in love, inspiration and well-being opens up at your finger tips. You can reach for that nourishment 24/7 and you are fulfilled beyond your wildest dreams.

Holidays are designed to be holy days that invoke a sense of celebration, ritual and communion.  Something as simple as having fun with loved ones or baking cookies with friends, as well as enjoying a nice meal with those you appreciate. Over the years people have made mention to me of how as soon as they hear the word holidays or see decorations, their energy sinks to the bottom of the dark pit (sometimes depression or melancholy).

It’s as if a person has  a solid contract with the Grinch to come into their mind, heart and life and steal your holiday Spirit and good cheer.

In the end holidays become plague-like. And people start to moan, get sick and avoid dealing with them. The energy body has this mucky yucky green-tinge and the face has this frown upon it. A person can morph into looking like a version of the Grinch themselves given the chance. One single skewed fear-based perception has the power to hijack the cheer and goodwill of the holidays.Now for the Grinch to act on your old contract of stealing your Holiday Spirit, you must give permission. If you do give permission, then you begin to entertain a repeating story and perception about the holidays such as “holidays are such a lonely time of year for me”,  “I feel depressed when the holidays are here” “nobody cares about me during the holidays.” This only continues the never-ending cycle of sad, lonely, blue, fear and anxiousness.

From now until the end of the year, the prompting (feels like a Mac Truck pushing things with the breaks on) to shift something inside of us is so strong that the ripples flow into this Holiday Season of the Festival of Lights almost until Springtime of 2010. Give yourself a heart-felt gift of transforming how you perceive your situation this year. Start small and act on it to make the change concrete and real.

I would like to give an example of a skewed perception and truth. I had a few people say to me “I’m all alone,” when in fact they had children, family, friends and co-workers who are right there beside them. I asked them, is this really true? Are you a singleton on this planet, where nothing is alive except you? The look is one of blankness and the lightbulb goes off brightly, I can see the shift happening in moments.  Then the realization settles in that it is a story that is fed through repeating pattern or habit. The fact remains, if you don’t dissolve the walls that keep you in contract with the Grinch (symbolic of course) then you remain trapped within a world of illusion and suffering. One that energizes a story that really doesn’t serve you.

Truth is, we are never alone we are surrounded by the love that Life offers each second of the day. We are loved beyond measure from those who know us and those who may not know us but send prayers for people around the world. What a gift to give yourself, break the contract with the Grinch and make a new heart-centered agreement with yourself to feel the love ever-flowing within and around you. Reclaim your Spirit/Soul for it is always there waiting for you to acknowledge this relationship and to offer you so much more in life. Peace is natural part of your authentic Self. You can return to this with a breath and intention. Begin here, start now – small steps lead to big leaps before you know it.

The false identity, egoic mind, aka negative ego in some spiritual circles views itself as separate from the Divine/God/Source as well as other people and life itself. It also perceive and locks into the “competition” battle and engages in the worldview that life is “a battle to survive at all costs.”

It sees itself as better than everyone around, or jumps into the self-pity of victim-hood “life is always against me” belief.  It may even keep you confined, locked up and tangled in the known and past far longer than necessary creating more suffering in the long-term. The false identity draws its energy from lack of love,  skewed perceptions, illusions, greed, powerlessness, overly controlling, rage, bitterness, victim-hood, wounds, revenge, corruption, addiction and abuse or violations.  Given free reign you will be demolished when the physical body dies, you no longer exist. This is life in the trance of the conditioned egoic mind.

As Soul/Consciousness you view life and self from a very different state and yet incredibly expanded space. The Truth is you are not separate from God/Divine/Source. In fact, you are One with all of it, so very connected. You are a Child of the Universe and the Universe as well as the Cosmos wants to bring you the highest and best in creation. It is a life-giving reality, one that is abundant on all levels and full of love. As Consciousness you know you have chosen to take on a human form for experiences and the next journey in evolution. You realize from this expanded state of Consciousness as Soul there are many levels and sub-levels of evolution and mastery. Planetary, Solar, Galactic, Universal, Multi-Universal, and Cosmic level of realities back to Source. You are drawn back to remembering the Universal Truth of Oneness and even if you can’t grasp this it is embedded within your natural design as Soul, it is encoded within the human body. From the enlightened perspective, your true nature is love, immortal, eternal neither have ever been born, nor will die. This is the real you, as Consciousness.

The ego and mind are both necessary part of the human form. Some feel it must be annihilated, squashed, repressed or rejected. This is not accurate and can be detrimental to a person’s spiritual growth. We need the mind for day-to-day functions as we need the ego within human form so that Soul expresses through it. It must become a clear window for higher state of Consciousness to flow through freely. For the ego and mind work on the optimal levels, it must be aligned under/with Soul, Consciousness.   As this real and natural alignment happens you shift from egoic perspective of reality dictating your choices to enlightened state of reality – Soul guiding your choices in life. People often ask me what my name means. Dipali. Well it is not a common name that’s for sure. My physical birth occurred right near the Festival of Lights known as Diwali in India, I was named after this auspicious time and celebration of light. This year Diwali is on October 17th/18th, 2009 right on the New Moon in Libra. Incredible. I’m looking forward to the blessings that will unfold for all of us. In addition there is gorgeous astrological energies which offer a nice grace-filled support to this time. Inspiration is everywhere. Draw in and be the love that you are. Express your true nature.

My name means “Row of Lamps” in  Sanskrit language or “light” to keep it simple.  In addition to that, I found this blurb on the internet; `Deepali or Dipali` is someone who brings love, joy, happiness into ones life.  For a young chick, this is a tall order, to live up to the name and its meaning.

And yet as I grew up and matured, I felt a deep resonance with the name, the festival of lights and its profound meaning. You can say it inspires me to keep bringing or expressing light in the midst of darkness or ignorance. Enlightening those who are ready to free themselves from the chains of conditioning.

Diwali is a wonderful celebration and was not celebrated in a strict religious fashion growing up. I was so blessed that I was able to draw out the richness and modify the holy day to mesh both the eastern and western ways. It is wonderful to be able to create a new and modern way to honor the meaning of the Festival.  Diwali is a time to honor the Light or Consciousness overcoming darkness and ignorance. And a return of hope for humankind.

In my home growing up,  we celebrate this time by putting candles or lights all around the home, creating Rangoli ( hand painted sand or colored powder designs), fasting, making handmade sweets and snacks, spending quality time with loved ones as well as dancing which is called “Navaratri” literally means “nine nights” and more. Navaratri is a time in which the Divine Mother in her various forms is honored; Durga (Goddess of Courage and Strength), Saraswati(Goddess of Wisdom and Learning), Lakshmi (Goddess of Prosperity and Beauty), and Shakti (Goddess of Energy or Power).

In a way Christmas lights began really early for me each year. We got to enjoy the twinkling candles and lights as early as October through end of December each year. There is an exchange of gifts, yet from way back in my own journey and recollection, Diwali Celebration was so much more than giving of gifts, money or physical items. It was a greater gift to laugh, enjoy delicious food and spend quality time with loved ones. A very colorful, spiritually rich experiences ones you can’t buy in a store. This to me is the true light or gift of Diwali. That’s a bit about Diwali, Dipali and Festival of Lights. Hope you have enjoyed this post.
